INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC AND PRACTICAL CONFERENCE WAS HELD
On May 12, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted an international scientific and practical conference in a hybrid format entitled “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan: Cooperation for the Sake of Peace, Security and Sustainable Development.” The international conference became another clear evidence of the successful implementation of Foreign policy of our country based on the principles of Permanent Neutrality: peace, good-neighborliness, mutual respect and equal cooperation, carried out under the leaderships of the esteemed President.
Today, diversity of events promoting the principles of Neutrality which is the key priority of Foreign policy of our country, are being held in Turkmenistan and abroad widely. The conference held at the National School of Turkmen diplomacy also became one of such important events. Participants of the Forum surveyed an exhibition displayed in Foyer of the Institute presenting valuable works of our national decorative and applied arts, as well as handcrafts reflecting the content and essence of prosperity and peace.
Representatives from 20 countries around the world participated in the International conference. Particularly, 45 representatives from the United States of America, Azerbaijan, the Kingdom of Belgium, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, Germany, Georgia, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, the People’s Republic of China, the Sultanate of Oman, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkiye, India, France, Korea, as well as Ukraine and Belarus attended the conference, since 42 representatives joined via digital platforms. As well as more than 150 scientists, experts, professors and lecturers from Turkmenistan participated in the event and exchanged experience. The forum, which brought together representatives of science and diplomacy from different countries, created great opportunities for discussing the peace-loving initiatives of Turkmen diplomacy, effective areas of Cultural diplomacy and its role in international cooperation.
During the conference, it was emphasized that Turkmenistan stands for more effective use of the opportunities of the United Nations and its political and diplomatic instruments for ensuring global security as an essential condition for implementing all strategic objectives of the UN, including the achievements of the Sustainable Development Goals. The initiatives of Turkmenistan in different areas supported widely by world community, are also extensively discussed at the conference.
During this conference, aimed at widely promoting Turkmenistan’s initiatives to ensure international peace among the world youth, speeches by specialists in geopolitics, diplomacy and history were represented. The event served as an effective platform for discussing modern issues in International relations and for seeking scientifically reasonable solutions.
Considerable attention was also given to online presentations during the conference. Foreign participants who addressed the international scientific and practical conference particularly emphasized that permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan serves as an important instrument for strengthening peace and good-neighborly relations both in the region and worldwide. The positive neutrality policy of Turkmenistan opens broad opportunities for enhancing multilateral diplomacy, including economic, energy, transport, water, educational, cultural and humanitarian, parliamentary, medical, environmental, youth and sports diplomacy. It contributes to strengthen mutual understanding, friendship and trust among states and people, as well as to expand cooperation in different areas.
The conference continued its work in the following sections: “International Law and the Neutrality of Turkmenistan,” “Economic Diplomacy: an Effective Instrument of Cooperation for the Attaintment of the Sustainable Development Goals,” “Cultural Diplomacy: National and Universal Principles of Humanitarian Relations” and “Global Experience in Training in International Relations Specialists: Science, Education, and Methodology.” The presentations delivered during the sessions highlighted the points of view and perspectives of representatives of scientific and educational centers of the relevant fields in Turkmenistan and Foreign countries. Foreign guests and members of the Turkmen delegation expressed their sincere gratitude to Hero Arkadag and Hero Arkadagly Serdar for the high-level organization of the International Conference and great opportunities for participation.
The organization of special master classes for students within the framework of the International scientific and practical conference was of particular importance. The Supervisors of groups, lecturers, scientists and experts representing foreign countries met with our students and shared their concepts in Diplomacy, practical experience and scientific opinions. Particularly, the master classes covering innovative methods of improving Foreign language proficiency, various areas of diplomacy, current issues of International relations, Preventive diplomacy and professional journalism skills drew great attention of students. The training sessions contribute not only the enhancing of students’ professional experience but also promotion of the further development of scientific and educational cooperation.
The cultural program arranged for participants included excursions to various cultural and historical sites of the capital city. Such events, which further strengthen the status of Turkmenistan as a center of friendship and brotherhood, contribute to the effective use of the opportunities provided by science, education and cultural diplomacy.
