International Day of Parliamentarism
June 30 is the International Day of Parliamentarism. On May 22, 2018 in New York, during the 72nd session of the UNGA, the Resolution “Cooperation between the United Nations, National Parliaments and the Inter-Parliamentary Union” was unanimously adopted.
The Resolution enshrined the joint initiative of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States and the Inter-Parliamentary Union on the establishment of the International Day of Parliamentarism on June 30. The first international conference held on this day in 1889. This is the global Inter-Parliamentary Union. The Organization of the parliaments of different countries, which exist to this day, is designed to improve the institutions of parliamentarism worldwide, emphasizing its importance in improving the lives of people.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union, working closely with the parliaments of different countries, contributes to the establishment of dialogue in solving global problems, resolving conflicts, and is also a certain guarantor of the implementation of international treaties. This UN organization structure to the involvement of national parliaments in international processes related to the resolution of issues of security and sustainable development, the program of which was considered and adopted by the United Nations. More than 25 states also celebrate the National Day of Parliamentarism.
