INTERNATIONAL DAY OF EPIDEMIC PREPAREDNESS: A GUARANTEE OF UNIVERSAL SECURITY
December 27 is observed by the international community as the International Day of Epidemic Preparedness. The establishment of this date was approved by the United Nations General Assembly in 2020, drawing upon the lessons learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, which affected the entire world.
The primary objective of this day is to prevent potential future epidemics and pandemics and to ensure readiness for swift and effective response measures. Enhancing the resilience of health systems and strengthening international cooperation are the core principles promoted by this observance.
Our state, Turkmenistan, attaches great importance to modernizing the healthcare system and ensuring epidemiological safety. High-quality diagnostic centers and modern hospitals operate across the country to prevent the spread of diseases. Within the framework of the National «Saglyk» (Health) Program, medical science is being consistently advanced. Furthermore, Turkmenistan actively promotes "Scientific Diplomacy" at the international level and maintains close cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO).
International Day of Epidemic Preparedness serves as a reminder that every individual must approach their own health and the environment with responsibility. We must learn from past challenges and move toward the future with greater confidence and preparedness. For health is the most precious wealth.
