A CONSULTATIVE MEETING DEDICATED TO THE FRIENDLY VISIT OF THE NATIONAL LEADER OF THE TURKMEN PEOPLE, CHAIRMAN OF THE HALK MASLAHATY OF TURKMENISTAN, HERO ARKADAG TO THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA
On March 18, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a consultative meeting to discuss the diplomatic and economic results of the friendly visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Hero Arkadag, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the People's Republic of China. Led by Professor Ovezdurdy Muhammetberdiyev, the session emphasized the integration of national development strategies, “green” cooperation, and the enduring cultural bond between the two nations.
The meeting was attended by the faculty members and students of the Institute. During the meeting, Professor Muhammetberdiyev highlighted the high- level negotiations between Hero Arkadag and President Xi Jinping, emphasizing the strategic alignment of Turkmenistan’s “Revival of the Great Silk Road” with China’s ”One Belt, One Road” initiative. A significant portion of the analysis was dedicated to the expansion of the Galkynysh gas field, which remains a cornerstone of the bilateral energy partnership, and the enhancement of Eurasian transportation logistics.
Professor Muhammetberdiyev also highlighted the symbolic presentation of the Akhal-Teke horse, “Gadyrly,” to the Chinese leader. This gift was framed not only as a sign of mutual respect but also as a modern continuation of the ancient Silk Road legacy. The meeting underscored that the partnership between Turkmenistan and China remains based on the principles of permanent neutrality and long-term strategic reliability.
