Training seminar dedicated to the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development”
On March 29, 2023, the training course was conducted in accordance of the UN 2023 Water Conference - formally known as the 2023 Conference for the Midterm Comprehensive Review of Implementation of the UN Decade for Action on Water was placed at the UN Headquarters in New York, 22-24 March 2023, co-hosted by the Government of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Representatives of the UN Resident Coordinator Office Vladimir Valetko, and head of the department of Hydraulic Structures of the Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Niyazov, professor Italmaz Saparlyyev, as well as teachers of the Department of International Law and Comparative Jurisprudence of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and Turkmen Agricultural University named after S.A.Niyazov, as well as students of the secondary school no. 68 named after Annaniyaz Artykov located in Ashgabat city took an active part in the training.
During the seminar was discussed the main goals and objectives of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" for 2018-2028, approved by the relevant resolution of the UN General Assembly adopted on December 21, 2016.
The main purpose of the seminar was to analyze the work done by the UN member states, international organizations and financial institutions to fulfill their obligations in the implementation of SDG No. 6 - Clean water and sanitation, as well as to consider the key approaches of Turkmenistan in solving water problems, international activities of the country in this direction.
We should remember that, water is the dealmaker for the Sustainable Development Goals, and for the health and prosperity of people and planet. Training course was very effective for the students and they received comprehensive answers to their questions.
