LINGUISTIC AND CULTURAL INTERACTION: A SCIENTIFIC-PRACTICAL CONFERENCE WAS HELD
On April 16, 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a scientific-practical conference titled “The Role of Language and Cultural Relations in Modern International Cooperation”. The forum was attended by leading professors, faculty, and students of the institute, as well as invited guests.
The event was dedicated to an in-depth scientific analysis of language policy and cultural diplomacy as the fundamental pillars of interstate dialogue. Participants discussed innovative teaching methodologies, current issues in translation studies, and the development of international cultural ties in the context of the digitalization of education. A defining feature of the conference was its multilingual focus: reports were presented in various languages, clearly demonstrating the high level of professional training among future diplomats.
Of particular interest to the audience were the presentations by invited experts and faculty from the Department of World Languages. D. Baymuradov (Arabic Language Instructor, Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammet Azadi) revealed the role of the Arabic language in popularizing national cultural heritage. Gerwin Maag highlighted the dynamics of cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and Germany. D. Babakhanova analyzed the key vectors of scientific and educational cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan in her speech. Joshua Tilton emphasized the strategic role of the English language in global communications.
The conference concluded with a lively discussion. During the Q&A session, participants underscored the importance of proficiency in world languages for strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between nations. Forum participants expressed their deep gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people Hero-Arkadag, and to the President of Turkmenistan, Arkadagly Hero Serdar, for creating an advanced educational environment in the country that provides youth with access to world-class knowledge.
