SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE: “GEOPOLITICAL FEATURES OF LANDLOCKED DEVELOPING COUNTRIES” WAS HELD
On October 27, 2025, a scientific conference titled “Geopolitical Features of Landlocked Developing Countries” was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The conference was dedicated to the successful organization of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries, which took place on August 5 to 8, 2025, in the “Avaza” National Tourist Zone. Professors, instructors and students of the institute participated in the event.
During the conference, special emphasis was focused on the announcement of the Avaza Programme of Action for 2024–2034, which outlines the strategic development direction for landlocked developing countries for the next decade, as well as the adoption of the Avaza Political Declaration. These documents, recognized internationally as addressing the specific issues faced by LLDCs, propose concrete solutions aimed at developing infrastructure, strengthening trade relations, increasing resilience to climate change and mobilizing financial resources. This major UN event hosted in our country received wide coverage in global media outlets.
At the conference, speakers highlighted the unanimous adoption of the Resolution titled “Additional Information on the Procedure for Holding the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries” during the 63rd plenary meeting of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on April 11, 2025, and the unanimous adoption of the Resolution titled “Avaza Political Declaration” during the 18th plenary meeting of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on October 14, 2025.
This demonstrates the effective continuation of our humanitarian foreign policy strategy, initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Hero Arkadag, is being successfully implemented under the leadership of our esteemed President.
