DEBATE HELD AMONG UNESCO CLUBS ON THE OCCASION OF THE INTERNATIONAL WEEK OF SCIENCE AND PEACE

On November 14, 2025, a debate competition was organized between the members of the UNESCO Club “Culture of Peace” of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, and the members of the UNESCO Club “Peace and Trust – the Foundation of Humanity and Development” of the International University of Humanities and Development.

The event was dedicated to the 2025 – International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, proclaimed by the UNESCO, as well as the International Week of Science and Peace. Its main objective was to highlight the role of modern scientific progress in strengthening global stability, contributing to human well-being and promoting a culture of peace. The debate was held on the topic: “Will quantum science and new technologies serve to strengthen global peace?”

During the debate, the teams presented arguments supported by the scientific analysis and logical reasoning, discussing the prospects of quantum technologies, their impact on regional and global security, the future of cybersecurity, the development of artificial intelligence and the influence of emerging technologies on peacebuilding. According to the jury’s assessment, the performances of the members of the UNESCO Club “Peace and Trust – the Foundation of Humanity and Development” stood out as the most compelling.

This event significantly contributed to strengthening cooperation between UNESCO clubs, enhancing students’ ability to express their views on international scientific issues, and advancing the culture of peace through education.
