WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
World Environment Day was established at the 27th session of the UN General Assembly on 5 June 1972. In its resolution, the General Assembly calls on the states and organizations of the United Nations system to hold annual events on this day to reaffirm their commitment to environmental conservation and improvement.
Ecological actions, events and cleaning-ups are held in our country. A vivid example of this is a 15-day environmental campaign held in our capital in honor of the 140th anniversary of the city of Ashgabat. Within the framework of the campaign various ecological acitivities, including tree planting events were organized.
The Head of the State, Honorable President of Turkmenistan established the tradition of regular cycling. Every year on June 3, many cyclists-lovers of a healthy lifestyle go out and travel along the highways in the country. An important component of celebrating World Bicycle Day is the environmental aspect. The celebration of the Day is aimed at awakening in every citizen of our country a desire to contribute to environmental protection, as well as to encourage as many people as possible to take action to prevent environmental pollution.
The World Environment Day, established by the United Nations and celebrated annually on June 5, encourages all environmentalists and environmental organizations to draw the world's attention to environmental issues.
