A conference and exhibition dedicated to the International Day for Protection of Children
On June 1, 2024, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted the conference and exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the International Day for Protection of Children.
The exhibition was organized with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Culture, the United Nations Organization, the European Union, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Ashgabat, and the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, International University for the Humanities and Development, Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after D.Azady, as well as, the Institute of International Relations. Within the framework of the exhibition, children performed songs and poems praising peace, brotherhood, and happy childhood. In addition, the children of diplomatic missions of foreign countries and international organizations in Turkmenistan sang songs and performed poems in different languages, which raised the festive spirit even more.
During the conference, Mahri Bashimova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Beata Peksa, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the European Union to Turkmenistan, Dmitry Shlapachenko, UN Resident Coordinator for Turkmenistan, Alexandru Nartea, Acting Representative of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Turkmenistan, John McGregor, Head of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Center in Turkmenistan, Yazdursun Gurbannazarova, Ombudsperson for Human Rights in Turkmenistan, and Allanur Saryyev, doctor of the Department of Surgery of the Scientific-clinical Center for Maternal and Child Healthcare delivered their speeches.
In the speeches, it was particularly emphasized that in accordance with the national legislation, great efforts are taking place to support children socially. Turkmenistan is recognized throughout the world as a state with great concern for children with all its meanings of security. Turkmenistan’s international reputation is based on care for people, the positive state policy in the field of child protection, also comprehensive assistance and support to children in need of protection, as well as, paid special attention to the interests of children. In particular, the foreign representatives highly appreciated the work of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care founded on the initiative of our Hero Arkadag, to support children in need of protection.
As it is known, more than 140 operations were done to the children by this Charity Fund, since its establishment in 2021. Also, the delivery of "Ambulance" cars to the children's departments of hospitals in the velayats of our country, and the regular distribution of necessary health care facilities at the expense of the charity fund, proves the effective results of the activities carried out in this field. In this regard, it was mentioned that the humanitarian work carried out by of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care is widely recognized among the representatives of various agencies of the United Nations operating in Turkmenistan.
At the end of the conference, Adoption of the Address to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov was received on behalf of the participants of the event.
