A TRAINING COURSE WAS HELD WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF THE OFFICE OF THE UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES
On November 7, 2024, a training course organized by the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. It was attended by the representatives of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University of Humanities and Development as well as Magtymguly Turkmen State University.
During the training course, Mrs. Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, Assistant High Commissioner for Protection of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees made a speech and emphasized the importance of discussing the opportunities for bilateral cooperation and international experience related to issues of statelessness, ensuring the rights of stateless persons and providing them with asylum. She noted that our country regularly cooperates with reputable organizations on such migration issues.
It should be noted that today our country has become one of the first countries in the region to pay special attention to these issues, which require coordination of international efforts aimed at solving the problems of refugees and stateless persons.
Due to the current situation, the issue of migration has become one of the most serious challenges to the world community. In this regard, Turkmenistan demonstrates effective practices in providing legal protection and equal opportunities to stateless persons and migrants.
The regular organization of such trainings provides students of the above-mentioned universities with ample opportunities to become familiar with the work of this UN commission and further develop cooperation in this area.
