International online conference dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat
On May 22, 2021, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted an online international conference entitled "Mutual Trust and Cooperation: Strategy of Peace and Development". The online forum, which was organized by the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, was attended by heads of foreign policy institutes and universities of many countries of the world, as well as veterans of national diplomacy, and teaching staff and students of the Institute. The conference waschaired by a senior lecturer of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations, Candidate of Philosophical Sciences Begench Karayev.
The Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiyev by delivering introductory speech noted that this international conference held on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan, 25th anniversary of Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, as well as 140th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat will make a significant contribution to the further development of mutually beneficial and fruitful cooperation. The head of the Higher School of National Diplomacy underlined that owing to the tireless efforts of our highly esteemed President authority of our country’s foreign policy and our main city Ashgabat grows in the world, our capital becomes a center of harmony, peace and understanding in the region, as well as our capital is recognized as venue for holding important political, economic, cultural, educational-scientific events, also various meetings, symposia and forums. Currently, the Institute has established and successfully develops fruitful cooperation with 25 universities and diplomatic academies from 24 countries.
Farhat Asif, President of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Imran Syed, Director of the Center for Policy Studies of the COMSATS Institute of Information Technologies of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mohammed Al-Khorra, Director of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Seyyed Mohammad-Kazem Sajjadpour, President of the Institute for Political and International Studies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abramo Habib, Director of the Italian Diplomatic Academy, Mesut Ozcan, Director of the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Heads of the Departments of the Diplomatic Academy named after K. Dikambayev of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Aynur Jorabekova and GuldanaAlybayeva, Yulia Nikitina, a researcher at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation expressed their heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of the 140th anniversary of the founding of Ashgabat and they noted that Turkmenistan's foreign policy, its positive neutrality and preventive diplomacy play an important role in maintaining world peace. In addition, the participants noted that great personal diplomatic skills and experience of the President of Turkmenistan, his constructive initiatives help to solve the complex issues of the region. As they noted, during the years of independence of the Turkmen state, Ashgabat became one of the most beautiful cities ofthe world.
At the end of the conference, the participants exchanged views on the further development of diplomatic cooperation.
