Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan: An international conference was held in Tashkent
On the eve of the first state visit of Honourable President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Uzbekistan, on July 12, 2022, an international conference entitled “Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan. Prospects for development at a new historical stage of interaction” was held at the Central Asian International Institute of Central Asia.
The Turkmen delegation was represented by the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan J. Gurbangeldiev, E.Aydogdyev, rector of the International University for the Humanities and Development, D.Orazsakhedov, director of Magtumguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Sh.Shiriev, head of the Research Center for Strategic studies of the Institute of International Relations, D.Mammadov, researcher of the Center, as well as M.Berdiniyazov, lecturer of the Department of International Relations and Diplomacy and also the specialists from analytical research institutions of Uzbekistan, the representatives of the Oliy Majlis and the Republican Turkmen Cultural Center took part in the conference.
The conference was opened by the rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, and the director of the ICA, Anvar Nasirov. Then the conference was held in two sections.
The first section was focused on political, economic and trade relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan, and as well as an exchange of views on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the transport and energy sectors. In the second section, the experts discussed the current state of the Turkmen-Uzbek cooperation and exchanged views on strengthening and expanding the regional dialogue, as well as the cultural, social and humanitarian relations between the two friendly countries. The conference was covered by local media.
At the end of the conference, scientific and textbooks on foreign policy and diplomacy of Turkmenistan were presented by the Institute of International Relations for Libraries of the International Institute of Central Asia and the University of World Economy and Diplomacy of Uzbekistan. In turn, the organizers presented a scientific and methodological collection entitled “New Uzbekistan and Regional Cooperation in Central Asia”.
In the afternoon, the members of the Turkmen delegation, who arrived in Tashkent on a working visit, took a tour the sights of the city, such as “Pobeda”, “New Uzbekistan” and the Turkmen-Uzbek friendship the park “Ashgabat”.
