Students visited a carpet factory
On March 13, 2024, members of the UNESCO Club “Culture of Peace” of the Institute of International Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan visited the Ashgabat carpet factory of the “Turkmenhaly” state association.
Here, the students were closely familirized with the weaving of our exquisite carpets, which is considered the specialty of Turkmen women. Aditionally, they listened of the interesting stories of fifty artistic women working in the carpet factory, as well was about the subtle secrets of the carpet making inherited from our mothers.
A carpet is a symbol of Turkmen people. Turkmen carpets have long played a crucial role in Turkmenistan’s culture.
As we know, in 2019, Turkmen national carpet art was included in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
