International Day in Support of Victims of Torture
Every year, thousands of people around the world are subjected to criminal violence and torture. To prevent such acts and to support them, June 26 was declared by the United Nations as "International Day in Support of Victims of Torture". This date allows preventing degrading treatment and fighting against such criminal activities. Torture is absolutely prohibited and cannot be justified under any circumstances.
This date was first observed in the world community in 1998, and in 2016, it was recognized as a national holiday in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In Turkmenistan, the people are the highest value of the society and the state. As a result of international research conducted in 2020, Turkmenistan's ranking as one of the safest countries in the world is a clear evidence of the high importance given to the protection of human rights in our country.
