“6 April – International Day of Sport for Development and Peace”
Under the wise leadership of our highly esteemed President great work is being done in our country to develop Turkmen sports at the world level and to strengthen international authority of Neutral Turkmenistan as a sports state.

Today, Turkmenistan has become a centre of major international sporting events at the global, continental and regional levels, fostering to the implementation of a positive, good-neighbourly and peaceful foreign policy of our neutral state.
As is known, on September 23, 2013 at the 96th Plenary meeting of the 67th Session of the General Assembly of the United Nations, a Resolution 67/296 declaring April 6 as the International Day of Sports for Peace and Development was adopted.
Being guided by the principles of Neutrality, our state has organized number of major international sports competitions in our country at the high level. Vivid examples of these are the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017, the “Amul-Hazar 2018” rally, the World Weightlifting Championships. Turkmen athletes successfully performed in these sports events and further promoted the sports prestige of our country.
