World Skills Day
Every year on July15, the world community celebrates World Skills Day on the initiative of the United Nations in order to understand the importance of investing in the development of young people’s skills and improving their socio-economic conditions. This date creates an opportunity for young people to master technical and vocational training, work with stakeholders in the public and private sectors, and recognize the importance of vocational training.
World Skills Day was celebrated in 2020 under difficult conditions. Many vocational schools have been closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It is estimated that the closure of educational institutions has affected about 70 percent students around the world.
There are currently 1,2 billion young people between the ages of 15 and 24 in the world, which is 1,6 percent of the world’s population. Youth is an active period of life. The acquisition of additional skills by young people facilitates entry into the changing labor market and helps to make successful , reliable decisions about work and life.
