Turkmenistan strengthens its efforts to develop a culture of peaceful and trust-based dialogue
At the 63rd plenary session of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the Resolution entitled “2025 - the Year of International Peace and Trust” was adopted with the initiative of Turkmenistan and the joint authorship of 86 countries.
This was another step in Turkmenistan's continuous efforts to develop a culture of peaceful and trust-based dialogue in the international community. As in previous Resolutions of the UN General Assembly declaring 2021 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and 2023 the “International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace”, Turkmenistan's new initiative is based on the principles of the UN and the world. It aims to develop a global security strategy based on the generally accepted norms of international law, taking into account the important facts and trends in its development.
The proposal to start discussing the possibilities of developing such a Strategy was one of the priority tasks of Turkmenistan at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. This document refers to the importance of the decision of the UN General Assembly on July 28, 2022, which declared Central Asia a “Region of Peace, Trust and Cooperation”, and the declaration of 2025 as the “Year of International Peace and Trust” of Turkmenistan. It has been announced that it will continue its work on presenting a proposal to the UN General Assembly.
Adoption of the UN General Assembly's Resolution “2025 – Year of International Peace and Trust” as an opportunity for joint action is intended to resolve emerging situations through peaceful, political and diplomatic methods and it means, as well as to stengthenb trust-based relations between states.
As our esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the adoption of this document is a clear evidence of international recognition of the efforts of Motherland to ensure global peace and sustainable development, build mutually, beneficial, friendly and fraternal relations, and strengthen mutual trust between the countries of the world. Congratulating all Turkmen citizens with this important event, the Turkmen leader emphasized that constant work in this field would continue in the future.
