NEUTRALITY IS THE BASIS OF GLOBAL PEACE AND SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT
Permanents Neutrality, reflecting the ancient wisdom of the Turkmen people, meets the needs of the people of Turkmenistan at the present time and is harmoniously combined with the development activities of the world community. It is for this reason that the policy of permanent neutrality has enormous creative power in international relations. As it is known, on March 2, 1992, Turkmenistan was accepted as a member of the United Nations at the 46th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Following it, that is, on December 12, 1995, with the historic resolution of the UN General Assembly, with the support of 185 countries that were members of the UN at that time, Turkmenistan was granted the legal status of permanent neutrality. Thus, Turkmenistan was recognized as the first permanent neutral state officially recognized by the world community. This is a great and far-sighted policy and a principle that corresponds to the soul of the Turkmen people.
The policy of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan is a reflection of the wise principles, noble values and humanitarianism of our people, which have continued since ancient times.
In the field of international economic, political, cultural and scientific relations, Turkmenistan unfailingly fulfills its obligations under all bilateral and multilateral agreements. Indeed, today, Turkmenistan is implementing new initiatives aimed at strengthening international cooperation for the sake of global peace and sustainable development, based on the trends of a new approach to the development of international cooperation. Our great reforms have made Turkmenistan a center of special attention of the international community. The esteemed President's fair policy in this regard paves the way for new initiatives and progress.
In 2007, a new epoch in the history of the country began with the unanimous election of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov as the President of Turkmenistan. In this era, which made humanitarianism, brotherhood and peace the main motto, independent and permanently neutral Turkmenistan, under the leadership of our National Leader, continued the "Open Door" policy and extended a hand of friendship to the people of the world. The establishment of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy in Ashgabat by the decision of the UN General Assembly in 2007 was also a great political event.
Our peaceful, prosperous country is a supporter of strengthening peace and mutual understanding throughout the world. During the happy state of stability, our country showed itself to the world as a country that creates and protects peace and stability under the leadership of the President. Our dear Turkmenistan, which has the status of permanent neutrality, enjoys a great reputation in preserving peace throughout the world and in the region. The large-scale socio-economic and cultural reforms carried out by the President contribute to the development of our national culture, the strengthening of the process of promoting the history and spiritual heritage of the Turkmen people throughout the world, and the activation of international relations in this regard.
Thanks to the efforts of the President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the glory and reliability of the Motherland is growing. As a neutral state, Turkmenistan is particularly active in proposing important issues of the region and finding, achieving their positive solutions. In general, Turkmenistan, which is recognized as a democratic, legal, secular and neutral state, in a very short period of time in history, under the leadership of the esteemed President , adhering to the principles of positive neutrality in intergovernmental and international relations, has always maintained balance and managed to take its rightful place in all aspects of multifaceted international relations.
