Training course on the rights and duties of a journalist
On December 1-2, 2022, a training course “Support in the implementation of the provisions of the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) of Turkmenistan for 2021-2025 related to the freedom of the media and freedom of expression ” was organized at the Yyldyz Hotel by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat on the rights and duties of reporters.
The representatives of the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat city Court, The Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan, the Colleague of Lawyers of Turkmenistan, the media workers, as well as the teachers of the Turkmen State University named after Magtymguly, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the International University of Humanities and Development participated in the training course. The course was conducted by the editor of the newspaper «Нейтральный Туркменистан» Irina Imamkulyyeva, the head of news department of the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan Serdar Agayev, a lawyer Batyr Baysahedov and an international expert Mark Beckerman from Great Britain through the videoconference.
During the course, international experts gave comprehensive explanations on the international standards of the rights and duties of journalists, the enforcement of freedom of speech in the Constitution, information availability, protection and promotion of human rights and copyright.
