A NEW ACHIEVEMENT OF OUR ATHLETE
Currently, great attention is being paid to the development of education and sports in the country, elevating these systems to a global level. Additionally, following the personal example of our esteemed President, the number of athletes and young people interested in various types of sports is increasing daily.
Turkmen athletes won 45 medals of various denominations at the «Chemnitz Open 2024» karatedo tournament that ended in Chemnitz (Germany). The competition brought together 953 athletes from 5 countries, who competed for the title of the strongest in the disciplines of kata (demonstration of formal exercises) and kumite (fights) in different age categories.
The Turkmenistan team included 18 athletes, 7 judges and 2 coaches. Based on the results of all types of the program, our compatriots have 21 gold, 12 silver and 12 bronze medals. With these results, the turkmen karate took second place in the medal count, losing to the representatives of Germany (97 gold, 102 silver and 190 bronze awards).
The greatest contribution to the success of the turkmen team was made by: 2nd year student of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rasul Atajanov (2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze).
The upcoming competitions are very important in the fight not only for medals, but also for ranking points for participation in the IV Summer Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in the capital of Senegal, Dakar, from October 31 to November 13, 2026.
We sincerely congratulate our young fellow student on his confident victories in the field of sports and wish him great success in his studies and in the world of sports in the future!
