Meeting with UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia
On November 25, 2022, UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia Ms. Ashita Mittal delivered a lecture for the students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. She told about the UNODC activities carried out in the country and in the region aimed countering transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, extremism and terrorism, illicit firearms manufacturing, gender violence, as well as about cooperation with the government of Turkmenistan and UNODC. Moreover, in her lecture, Ms. Ashita Mittal stated that Turkmenistan ratified the main international conventions related to the mandate of UNODC in the field of drugs, crime and terrorism. It is known that Turkmenistan adopted the National Strategy of Turkmenistan on the Prevention of Violent Extremism and Countering Terrorism for 2020-2024 and the National Action Plan for 2020-2022 on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings.
At the end of the event, there was an exchange of questions. It is no doubt that the lecture enlarged the knowledge of students in the relevant field.
