Transport Diplomacy – Prerequisite for Sustainable Development
On December 28, 2022, a meeting was held with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Toyly Atayev. It took place at the Scientific and Methodological Center for Sustainable Development Goals at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The students of the Turkmen National School of Diplomacy took part in it with great enthusiasm.
The Ambassador told about the role of the favorable geo-economic and geopolitical position of Turkmenistan in the promotion of transport diplomacy. The Ambassador also touched upon Turkmen-Ukrainian relations and areas of cooperation between the two countries.
As the Ambassador noted, each country promotes its geopolitical and geo-economic interests in order to ensure economic development, using its advantageous geographical position and opportunities. Turkmenistan, putting forward important initiatives and proposals in the field of transport and communications, also makes a great contribution to establishment of a new geo-economic space. In addition, taking an active part in uniting joint efforts in the UN and other authoritative international organizations in this area, neutral Turkmenistan proposes and implements major infrastructure projects in the transport and communication system.
The meeting was very productive for the students and they received interesting answers to their questions.
