Turkmenistan and Eurasian Economic Union: a training session dedicated to the prospects of international economic integration
On May 26, 2022, a training session entitled "Turkmenistan and the Eurasian Economic Union: prospects for international economic integration" was held at the Transport Diplomacy Training Center of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the session, which was attended by teaching staff and students of the Institute, a lecturer of the Department of International Economic Relations, associate professor Ovezmyrat Bashimov underlined the importance of the transport system in diversifying Eurasian trade and economic relations, in particular constructive international initiatives of Turkmenistan directed at promoting the South-North and East-West transport corridors. This creates great opportunities for the SCO member states and additional prospects for the diversification of Eurasian trade and economic relations, as well as promotion of regional cooperation. In particular, it was noted that in the implementation of major infrastructure projects, the possibilities of expanding cooperation in the energy sector through the diversification of energy flows in the Eurasian space by combining the capabilities of Turkmenistan and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. In addition, in the course of the session, the strategic importance of Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project was highlighted, which is aimed at strengthening regional stability, developing the Afghan economy, and promoting regional and world economic relations.
