Turkmenistan-Qatar: Cooperation in Education and Science
On February 23, 2022, an online round table was held between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.
The meeting was attended by the heads of the higher educational institutions of the two countries – rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev and director of the Institute of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Al Khorr, as well as charge d’affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Turkmenistan Mr. Ghanem Abdulla Al-rumaihi, lecturer of the Faculty of International Relations and Diplomacy of the Institute of International Relations of the MFA of Turkmenistan Merdan Berdiniyazov, senior lecturer of the Department of World Languages of the Institute Maya Orazova.
As it was emphasized, at present thanks to the broad prospects for modern development, new areas of friendship and cooperation are emerging between Turkmenistan and Qatar. During the meeting, priority issues of bilateral cooperation were considered. A special role in the Turkmen-Qatari relations is played by cooperation in the field of science and education. Currently, a number of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan provide professional training in the Arabic language, the country regularly celebrates the Arabic Language Day.
An important milestone in the development of Turkmen-Qatari scientific relations is the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Institute of Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. The parties are committed to the principles of cooperation and effectively interact for strengthening ties and wide application of existing opportunities.
At the end of the event, the parties expressed hope that the current meeting would be another step in strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries and give impetus to further strengthening the Turkmen-Qatari scientific and educational ties.
