On August 9, 2022,
an online round table was held to share knowledge and discuss materials on the
relationship "water-energy-food-ecosystems" and integrated water
resources management for the development of curricula for universities in
Central Asia.
The meeting was
organized by the Regional Environmental Center for Central Asia. The meeting
was attended by grantees of the regional project on water resources and the
environment, national and regional experts from the academic and relevant
ministries of the Central Asian countries, the Kazakhstan International
Development Agency, the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia, the team
of the regional project on water resources and the environment, the Academy of
Public Administration under the President of Turkmenistan, Turkmen State
Scientific and Production Design Institute for Water Management
"Turkmensuvylymtaslama" of the State Committee for Water Resources of
Turkmenistan, Turkmen Agricultural Institute.
The purpose of the
round table is to discuss existing materials and best practices on integrated
water resources management of the relationship
"water-energy-food-ecosystems", as well as their integration into
educational programs in the CA countries. The WAVE Regional Water and
Environment Project promotes economic stability and prosperity as well as
healthy ecosystems by strengthening regional capacity to manage transboundary
water resources and mitigate environmental risks in the Syr Darya and Amu Darya
river basins. This project, still one of the current concepts, will develop and
support the integration of curricula on the interrelated topics of IWRM and
WEP.
