SHAPING THE FUTURE: WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY

In the Era of Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, our Hero Arkadag and our esteemed President are making every effort to ensure that the young generation the future of our Motherland and people receives a modern education and upbringing. The vast opportunities being created inspire us teachers to work with even greater dedication and creativity in our noble profession, to implement effective and advanced methods of teaching and upbringing in our practice, and to this end, to constantly seek new approaches.
It is particularly significant that our Institute hosted an international practical conference titled “National Heritage – Solid Foundation of Our Independence” jointly with UNESCO, and that this important event coincided with World Teachers’ Day.
Our esteemed President pays special attention to the well-being of teachers, the enhancement of their professional competence and expertise, and the expansion of international educational exchanges, all of which contribute to elevating the entire teaching and learning process to a qualitatively new level. To unlock teachers’ creative potential and enhance the prestige of their profession, state-level competitions such as “ Teacher of the Year” and “Educator of the Year” are regularly held in our country. The Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan “On Approving the Concept for Improving Teaching Methodology for General Education Programs in Turkmenistan through 2028” is also aimed at addressing these tasks. The implementation of the objectives outlined in the Concept will facilitate the development of new teaching-methodology packages and national software, as well as the active integration of the country’s education system into the global educational space.
“Hello, teacher!” how sweet and heartwarming those words sound! Hearing these magical words inspires and motivates every educator to achieve new heights in their profession. For any teacher devoted to their sacred calling, hearing these words is a great honor and an immeasurable source of pride. A teacher is not merely an educator or an instructor of a specific subject; they are a guiding beacon, a true mentor, and an example of life. They are a luminous torch that helps enrich students’ knowledge and outlook, inspiring them to learn, create, and choose their future profession with confidence.
Teachers hold a special place in everyone's life. Whether you think back to your school years as a person of any age, you are bound to recall at least one teacher who made a difference in your life. Maybe they helped set you on the right career path. One may have encouraged you to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Or maybe they helped you when you felt sad or tired. Even though a teacher’s job is not only to teach, they are also counselors and friends.
The words of wisdom regarding teachers and the teaching profession found in the books and speeches of our Hero Arkadag and our esteemed President serve as a deep source of inspiration for everyone dedicated to this calling. Highlighting this vital wisdom, our Hero-Arkadag states: “Teaching has been one of the most prestigious and respected professions since the earliest periods of human history. A person who imparts knowledge is worthy of special respect and honor. In our Homeland, advancing in step with global integration, the teaching profession has become the ornament of our society. Care for teachers will continue to be one of the state’s primary concerns in the future.”
Issues related to the teaching profession are given special prominence in the books of our Hero Arkadag. We see this clearly in works such as the books “Döwlet guşy” and “Älem içre at gezer”. Our Hero-Arkadag emphasizes in his work “Älem içre at gezer”: “A teacher is an extraordinary person. They must generously bestow the wealth of knowledge upon people. Furthermore, knowledge is such a treasure that the more you share it with others, the more it multiplies and grows.” In short, a teacher’s speech, actions, and personal appearance must always serve as a true model of excellence.
Teaching has always been a fundamental pillar of the human experience The profound significance of learning lies in the fact that parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, older siblings, and other members of the community serve as the first mentors. As noted, from earliest times, communities passed down essential survival skills such as hunting and toolmaking to younger generations. Over time, these foundations evolved to encompass increasingly complex ideas, ultimately shaping the world’s social traditions, rich cultures, and enduring religious and moral belief systems.
With the development of increasingly progressive civilizations, education became much more structured. There arose a need for more advanced teaching methods to convey skills and specialized knowledge that went beyond basic life needs. Such new skills included reading, writing, agriculture, animal husbandry, and the use of machines. Education became one of the main factors of social progress. Any profession in the education field is highly valuable to society.
While teaching is indeed a noble career, it is a challenging one as well. It underscores the reality that today, more than ever, educators are investing immense energy into their profession. Some of the dynamics they contend with in the classroom each day include diverse learning environments, the demand for new resources, and the constant management of valuable time. For educators, providing individualized attention requires genuine dedication, yet they do so with heartfelt pleasure. Even more, it is those very moments striving to connect with every student that stay in your memory with a profound sense of fulfillment.Teachers play vital roles in education systems, driving learning, inclusion, and innovation in schools and societies.
It should be noted that World Teachers’ Day, celebrated annually on October 5 since 1994, commemorates the adoption of the 1966 ILO/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers, complemented in 1997 by higher-education personnel guidelines. In 2026, the Day marks the landmark 60th anniversary of the 1966 Recommendation, focusing globally on protecting and advancing the teaching profession in a rapidly changing world. UNICEF, UNFPA, and UNESCO continue championing teachers' contributions, standard-setting, and capacity-building.
To summarize, the education and development of the next generation of learners is more valuable. Children are our future, and educators look forward to being a genuine influence in their lives and helping them become their best selves. We sincerely congratulate our teachers, who work hard to help every person become a well-rounded, humane individual, and our mentors, who are a school of life for us, on their professional holiday! We, teachers, sincerely express our deep gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, our Hero Arkadag, and our esteemed President who create ample opportunities for educators to engage in creative work and wish them sound health and long lives, and success in all their undertakings.
