The French Institute in Ashgabat, which has been organizing the festival for 15 years in a row, announced on March 9 the start of the competitions” Francophonie-2023”. The students of the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Makhtumkuli Turkmen State University and Dovletmammet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, who study the language of Moliere participated in one of these contests, in the contest for oral spelling.
The annual contests of the Francophonie are held under the auspices of the French Institute of Turkmenistan, operating under the Embassy of the French Republic in Turkmenistan.
Three contests were announced in 2023: a singing contest, an essay contest, and a spelling contest. Summing up the results of all contests and the solemn ceremony of awarding prizes will be held on April 1, 2023.
The Francophone contests are held to stimulate and develop the desire to learn French among young people, as well as to popularize the historical and cultural traditions of France.
It should be noted that in the education system of Turkmenistan, special attention is paid to the study of foreign languages, including French because it is known French is the fifth most common language in the world, the second most popular for learning as well as the language of diplomacy.
