The International Day of Rural Women
The International Day of Rural Women is celebrated every year on October 15. This international day is aimed at raising awareness about value of rural women’s labor. The idea of holding of the International Rural Women’s Day was proposed at the 4th UN Women’s Conference held in Beijing in 1995.
This International Day is celebrated to highlight, recognize and support the role of rural women in society. The decision to celebrate International Women’s Day on October 15 was officially taken by the United Nations General Assembly on December 18, 2007.
This Resolution recognizes the contributions of women to the development of agriculture, improvement of industrial security and eradication of poverty in rural areas.
