International day of charity
A person in any situation must remain a person; must think not only about himself, but also about those around him, especially those who are a hundred times worse off than him. This idea is not new. It is promoted in every possible way and is trying to convey to the world community, the United Nations Organization, as well as related associations. International Day of Charity, according to the decision adopted at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly in December 2012 and approved by the resolution on March 7, 2013, is celebrated annually on September 5.
The date of the International Day of Charity is timed to coincide with the anniversary of the death of the 1979 Nobel Peace Prize laureate "for helping a suffering person" Mother Teresa of Calcutta. For over 45 years, Mother Teresa has served the poor, sick and orphans, doing charitable work, first in India and then in other countries. For her noble work, she received recognition all over the world.
In Turkmenistan, charity and patronage are treated with great understanding. Many organizations, regardless of the organizational and legal form of activity, are happy to provide any assistance to socially vulnerable groups of the population. And so that this charitable activity has a legal basis for regulation on August 26, 2017, the law of Turkmenistan "On charitable activities" was issued. Charitable activities - voluntary activities carried out by philanthropists in order to provide beneficiaries with social and other support in the form of charitable donations.
Mother Teresa said: "... you cannot feed a hundred people - feed one." And it will be good …
