DEVELOPMENT OF COOPERATION BETWEEN TURKMENISTAN AND THE REPUBLIC OF KOREA
As is known, diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea were established on February 7, 1992, and in June 2007 the Embassy of the Republic of Korea was opened in Turkmenistan. In 2008, a Korean language department was opened at the Turkmen National Institute of World Languages named after Dovletmammed Azadi for those wishing to study the Korean language. Over the years, interstate political, diplomatic, inter parliamentary, trade, economic, and cultural relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea have been developing.
Yesterday, June 10, 2024, negotiations were held in Ashgabat between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok Yeol, who arrived in our country on a two-day state visit. The President of the Republic of Korea, Yun Seok-yeol, was warmly welcomed at the Ashgabat International Airport, where the national flags of the two countries were raised on flagpoles and a guard of honor was formed. After the official welcoming ceremony, the parties held a conversation in a narrow format, after which the negotiations continued in an expanded format with the participation of members of the government delegations of the two countries. At the end of the negotiations in an expanded format, a signing ceremony of bilateral documents took place between the State Concern “Türkmenhimiýa”, the State Concern “Turkmengas” and the company “Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd”; between the Emergency Ambulance Center of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, the Scientific and Clinical Oncology Center and the Chilgok Hospital.
A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Hyakimlik of the city of Ashgabat and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of the Republic of Korea, and a memorandum of understanding between the State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Export-Import Bank of Korea us well as the Korean Trade Insurance Corporation. The President of the Republic of Korea Yun Seok-yeol thanked our Honored President Arkadaghly Hero Serdar for the warm welcome, noting that in the future our countries plan to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation based on the agreements reached as a result of this visit.
