MEETING OF THE ACADEMIC COMMUNITIES NETWORK
On June 9, 2022, a meeting of the members of the Academic Communities Network was held in Dushanbe. The meeting was held in a hybrid format for participants from Turkmenistan and other parties. The online meeting was organized with the support of the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project in cooperation with the Central Asian Regional Environmental Center (CAREC) within the framework of the Blue Peace Central Asia and the European Union project “Central Asia Nexus Dialogue Project: Fostering Water, Energy and Food Security Nexus and Multi-Sector Investment (Phase II).
The online meeting was attended by CAREC members and representatives of CA universities, representatives of the EU Delegation to Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, teams of the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project, representatives of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, CAREC teams, as well as teachers from the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The main goal and objective of this project is to share results and plans for the development of joint activities and discuss support needs and next steps within the Network of Academic Communities. During the online meeting, the participants emphasized the special role of the educational sector in Central Asia for the training of water management specialists. In this regard, the educational sector of Central Asia requires significant changes in order to better prepare the next generation of specialists. In a constantly evolving world, the tasks of the academic community are not limited to the development and preservation of basic science, but also include the active understanding, dissemination and practical application of new knowledge. In order to ensure the operational efficiency and sustainability of the network, there is a need to formalize the Academic Community Network in accordance with the new needs of the academic community.
